Youth Group (Grades 6 - Grade 12)

It's a big world out there. We want to help all children and youth carry their faith with them when they graduate. Did you know that recent research shows that 50% of church-going youth leave the church at graduation and never come back? That's astonishing!

Our understanding of baptism leads us to see that children and youth are important parts of the church and that the church and family play an incredible role in the formation of the child. Therefore we want to help youth integrate their faith, empower parents and guardians to come alongside of their child in their growing faith, and welcome youth into full participation in the life of the church.

Our youth group includes all students grade 6 - 12. They worship with us each Sunday. After the worship service the youth group meets at 11:30am to discuss what they saw, heard, and experienced in the worship service. This conversation time will last approximately 30-40 minutes. Parents can enjoy refreshments and snacks downstairs in the fellowship hall (a low-key, no pressure environment).

The youth group regularly meets outside of Sundays for fun, fellowship, and formation (learning more about what it means to follow Jesus).

A Prayer Written by Our Youth Group

Dear Lord, we ask that everyone is treated equal, is happy, and kind to one another. Also Lord, we ask that everyone is included. We pray for an end to homelessness and we pray for more generosity among people. We ask that everyone helps each other so that there are not starving people and there is an end to suffering. We ask that all people find peace with God so that there is no violence and so that we can all experience world peace. Dear God, please help more people to acknowledge that God is only a prayer away so that we don't hesitate to ask God for help. And now let's pray together, the prayer that God taught us to pray:

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
