Thomas Sheehan

Tom Sheehan is no stranger to the members of the Reformed Church of Poughkeepsie. The former student of Dr. John A. Davis, Jr. presented an organ recital in celebration of his graduation from high school on May 14, 2006, and returned for another performance on May 24, 2009.

Finishing his junior year as an organ performance major at the Westminster College of the Arts in the spring of 2009, Mr. Sheehan was studying with reknowned organist and instructor Ken Cowan. Tom also accompanied the Westminster Chapel Choir and the Westminster "Schola Cantorum", performing with them in all of their concerts.

Locally, Mr. Sheehan has performed piano recitals at Old Dutch Church in Kingston, in addition to organ recitals at West Point Cadet Chapel (home of the largest church pipe organ in the world) and the Reformed Church.

On March 22 of 2009, Mr. Sheehan performed at New York City’s St. Bartholomew’s Church as part of its 2009 "Great Music: Lenten Organ Recitals" Series. During the spring of that year, Tom also won first place in the Poister competition held in Syracuse, New York. Thanks to this achievement, Mr. Sheehan will be invited to give a solo recital in the upcoming national convention of the American Guild of Organists, to be held in Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2010.
